Every one forgets what to do when they have an Accident, but you shouldn't. I know it is difficult to think any thing. So, remember these steps to follow when you are suffering to ensure your safety and of your passengers and every one else. 

1.      Call the Police: The best thing to do even for small accidents is to call 911. Police will  be able to regulate traffic and record the incident. So, this is the key point for your safety and other people benefit too. If you gonna stay there then there will be a big problem with other people reaching their destiny.

2.      Avoid Additional Damage.  Try to get your vehicle away from the Highway or road, so that other cars that are coming don't have to get in trouble. In this way you will prevent additional damages and others will not get in this mess with you. In this period of time when there are tons of traffic on the road, once should not leave their vehicle on the road waiting for others to help him.

3.      Get the Right Information for the Insurance Process.  There is a specific of getting insurance, so you should try to get the licence number of the other person, his phone number his insurance number and his first and last name. This will help you later so better have it for bad times. 

4.      Document the Accident.  When you are taking the information about the other person you should also snap pictures of the damage and the overall accident to interviewing witnesses and taking down their information. The more accident evidence you can gather for the insurance claim, the better.

5.      File an Accident Report. File a state vehicle accident report (available at police stations and DMV websites) to help speed up the claims process. This will keep every thing in record and later help in case hearing and etc.
